Most of the LGBTQ community would say Sexual orientation should be considered a genetic trait rather than a personal choice, because most would say being gay, bisexual, or transgender did not happen over a short period of time. Its something that can happen over years; some notice it when they are younger and can see that they are not into the things that most kids their gender are. According to most of our science textbooks we used in school would say that there is always a reason for the unexplainable, you just have to look long and hard for the answer, I personally could notice these changes around my middle school years. As time goes on the scientific answer is still being sought out. Is it a genetic trait that some acquire or is it something that can be taught or picked up by at a young age? We might never know. As of right now there has been research into a so called “Gay …show more content…
In the same way, if a gay person would like to experiment with the opposite gender or feels pressured to perform with the opposite gender, it 's possible. Once again, when did you choose to be straight? I know conservative straight people hate to keep hearing that question but they will until they get the point. I, very much appreciate the churches assistance with those who have this bent. They genuinely believe that gay people are going to hell. Therefore they want to help them stay away from the act of homosexuality. So they teach them their theory of how this attraction came about saying it 's environmental. First of all that doesn 't make sense. Also it 's been proven wrong over and over and over. A person is born with their sexual origin. What they choose to do with it is up to them.” It shows that yes you can be born gay, if your not born gay how are you born straight? Our preferences differ from one another and thats

While reviewing the article “When You Are a Gay Boy in America” by Danny Zaccagnino, I learned about many of the positive aspects of the LBGTQ community, while also gaining an understanding of what it is like to live a day in that community. I was entertained throughout the majority of the article and in the end, I could not be happier that he found his angel. While the ending was enjoyable, it was heartbreaking to see some the things he went through and how scary it could be for him at times. One thing that I am taking away from this article is that the technology and the media can often times ruin things for many people. There were two instances in the article that the boy received negative attention from the media, which stemmed from the…

Gay marriage is an issue that is similar to nearly every controversial issue in America History. Most conscientious social issues in America life begin with a large majority of traditionalists pushing back, then some dramatic event event will usually occur, following that public opinion will slowly start to even out, and eventually past actions/ideas will be seen as prejudiced. It's like America collectively goes through the stages of grief before we see social justice: Denial, a lot of anger, barraging, sadness, and then finally acceptance. Along with million of Americans who felt similarly, we saw denial in Senator Jesse Helms by saying that homosexuals were morally wrenched, and believing that homosexuality was a choice. Collectively, we saw the anger in families across the country disowning their children; similarly there was anger in the viscous murder of Matthew Shepard.…

Pillard and Illinois Family Institute have conservative views of homosexuality, which indicates that Laramie is not the only place that has homophobes, but rather the whole nation. Homosexuality is not caused by only genetics or environmental reasons, but rather by a combination of reasons. According to Charles Lopresto, “human sexual behavior is . . . determined by ancient genes, brain function, biological processes, and cognitive influences such as social and cultural attitudes” (Lopresto 42).…

Is Homosexuality biologically based? This is a question that is gaining major interest and research as the number of homosexuals is increasing. Homosexuals are defined as either males who are sexual oriented toward other males or females being sexually oriented toward other females; sexual orientation being defined as “a preference for [either] same-sex [or] opposite sex sexual attraction and attachment”, this may or may not involve intercourse (Rahman & Wilson, 2003). Researchers are on the hunt to discover whether or not homosexuality can be derived genetically from parental chromosomes or defects in the brain. In essence, brain function involves many steps in which genetic information is translated into the phenotype of a person who subsequently…

A sexual preference, that does not hinder someone's ability to co-exist peacefully amongst others nor does it cause harm to others, should not terrorize someone's mind like this, making them anxious as to the way their demeanor comes off as in fear of being outed. Fortunately, in today's society LGBTQ rights have been progressing tremendously....at least in the United States. We always seem to be caught in our own problems that we forget to realize people have it worse around us. Me being scared to come out to my parents does not compare to the horrors that other LGBTQ people living in foreign countries are facing every day, where police brutality and government law condemns them from even showing any signs of expression. I've seen the world come so far in just 17 years of being alive, but I've always seen the horrors of the recent Egypt Crack-down and Chechyna Imprisonment of the LGBTQ community.…

Overall, I believe that people should not see being homosexual as a problem so that the origin of sexuality is not explored in an effort to “fix someone”. Nature versus nurture is not a stable argument because it can harm people, often without their full…

7). Sexual orientation is the pattern of emotional, sexual and/or romantic attraction to men, women, or both sexes (American Psychological Association par. 2). There is no core source for the exact reasons for someone’s sexual orientation; research has shown that possibly genetic, hormonal, developmental, social and cultural influences can determine one’s sexual orientation, and many agree that sexual orientation is not a choice but that it is complex roles of nature and nurture (American Psychological Association par.…

Why? Being gay is natural. Sure, moral fundamentalists may think it is a sin, but who are they to deny rights to those who are doing something that is just as right as a man loving a woman? Gays couples can be models of family life, offering just as much love and support for children as hetersexual couples. Gender should not be covered by marriage law, as the constitution protects US citizens from gender discrimination.…
