I have seen similarities among students responds to the topics. Students agreed to that; sexual orientation is a private matter and society has no business to interfere with peoples sexual preference. Furthermore, it is unethical for institutions agencies and organizations to attempt to change sexual orientation. Opinions were very similar to how we treat elder people in the U.S. Most respond suggested that we might need to learn from other cultures to take a better care of our aging family members.
There were also some differences the way student responded as a result of clear cultural views on the subjects. I found that interesting, informational, and did not experience any disturbing emotions from that. Sexual orientation and late adulthood

I agree with you the University is not failing to respect equality rights about sexual orientation. The primary cause is that Trinity Western is a private, Christian faith-based university legislated by British Columbia to aid the public. And the mission of this University is developing “Godly Christian leaders” while providing many educational programs. I can get a line here that two different rights under the Charter are colliding with each other. The equality right for lesbian or gay and freedom of rights to practice religion for TRU.…

Homophobia is a dislike of or prejudice against homosexual people. People who claim to be gay, lesbian or bisexual are still human, they have the same rights as we do, even if they do not follow the “social norms” of liking the opposite sex. Dude, You’re a Fag by C.J. Pascoe presents a variety of examples that show that our society has a problem with people being anything other than straight. Homophobia is more than hate speech in high school but the central concept around which adolescent culture is organized.…

In my culture, people have less acceptance of LGBTQ. They were discriminated, oppressed, bullied… and I was one of the people who make fun of gay people.…

Considering this semester’s social action plan we focused on gender and the media. Our group addressed topics specifically on Homophobia and media representations of gays and lesbian, the negative representation of women, and gender policing. Unfortunately, over time the discrimination the media has created has somehow become normalized to many in society. According to chapter four, Performances, gender policing is described to be responses to the violation of gender rules aimed at promoting conformity which happens daily and can be brutal. Our text also states people like our family, friends, lovers, bosses and mentors all can partake in gender policing.…

Being a part of a Human Sexuality course has definitely opened my eyes to many different topics and issues that are occurring around the world. I believe I have lived a very sheltered life after learning about some of these topics, because I hadn’t even heard of most of them. I liked to think I knew all there was to know about human sexuality simply because I understood sexual intercourse, STI`s, and using protection. But human sexuality involves much more than those three things. Three of the major topics that have made me really think about how uneducated I was in regards to human sexuality were sexual birth defects, gender identity and gender roles, and sexual assault.…

Sexual Education has been encouraged to be a part of public school education since the late 1800’s. It is a program that is supposed to help young adolescents understand their body, promote abstinence, types of contraception, the risks of engaging in sexual activities, and how to prevent diseases or pregnancy. However, many parents fight this program because of their beliefs that teens should stay abstinent till marriage, and learning about sex will increase their urge to have sex. Depending on what the state requires to be taught and what a school district wants, a student will either receive one of the two styles of sexual education. The two styles are comprehensive and abstinence only.…
