The clubs could help create a community or school campaign to bring awareness of the need for acceptance of sexual orientation diversity in our society. These programs can serve as a connection between people of different beliefs and perspectives, thus reducing the likely hood of discrimination. Another way to address the issue would to be through civil protests against local and state governments. Sexual orientation discrimination is not considered illegal in over half of the states in the United States; Louisiana is one of the states that do not consider sexual orientation discrimination illegal even though nationality, race, gender, age, and disability forms of discrimination are illegal. Civil protests would help solve the issue of discrimination by providing legal protection against harassment, prejudice, and discrimination in school, work, and government. Over the past several years, there has been a controversy whether gender discrimination is an issue that plagues the modern-day 21st Century. The National Academy of Sciences conducted a research in 2014, and they found that hiring managers tend to repeatedly favor men for jobs dealing with math and science, even if the female is equally or more talented that her counterpart. One proposition to fix the issue would be to educate men and women alike of what rights they have under the law. For example, Title IX was established to combat gender inequalities whether it be in schools or the work place. By informing society of what rights and guarantees they have, both sexes would have the ability to use the laws and policies surrounding gender discrimination to protect them. Another concept to the problem would be to protest or boycott any agency or institution that is guilty of committing gender discrimination. By reiterating that gender discrimination will not be tolerated, these institutions and agencies would be less likely to engage in the gender discrimination and more likely to fight against gender discrimination.
