There has been many reports that linked binge drinking to nonconsensual sexual events that led up to rape when people are intoxicated. In addition to this matter, Emily Yoffe relates a story of a young college girl that went to a bar and met a male classmate. At this bar, he offered himself to escort her as they went out from the bar where she was drinking. She drank so much that she was so disoriented to the point of walking out from the bar with only wearing one shoe. The only thing that she can remember was walking down a street and waking up in a bed with her clothe inside out. In fact, she told her boyfriend about her suppose affair with this guy. As a result, they broke their relationship because of her alleged infidelity. With shame and guilt, she asked some of her friends about of what happened went she left the bar that night. After she talked to her friends who happen to be at this bar that night of such event, she realizes that she was raped. Yoffe synthesize this event, “The young woman laments the whole campus landscape of alcohol-soaked hookup sex. Who does this culture benefit? Alcohol predators. It doesn’t liberate anybody” (Yoffe). Alcohol and drugs are a perfect combination for sexual assaults, Bogle reveals, “feminist scholar have been concerned about the link between hooking up and sexual assaults” (3).
