Imagine going about your everyday routine, nothing seeming out of the ordinary when suddenly you meet an unknown stranger. You act in a polite manner, hoping that you could continue on your merry way, when suddenly this unknown stranger causes you to feel uncomfortable. Whether it be through what they are saying verbally, body language or physical contact. Unfortunately encounters like this one happen on a daily basis whether it be a boy or a girl someone you may know or a friend maybe even a family member. No one is excluded or discriminated when it comes to sexual assault cases. Sexual Assault could fall into a whole wide range of categories but the prime definition is “any type of sexual contact or behavior that occurs without the explicit consent of the recipient”. Basically, if you do not feel comfortable with a given situation and you wish for it to stop, but it continues you are being a victim to sexual assault. Many are not aware that they are being victims to sexual assault because they may know the …show more content…
San Antonio provide safe hotlines such as that of Public Safety and the Student Life Office that enable students to report sexual assault cases that they may have witnessed or are currently experiencing during their everyday routes to class. There are also a number of blue emergency telephones that are located around campus that allow you to connect with Public Safety right away with only a touch of a button. Colleges encourage that of peer support in order to keep campus life safe. Sexual assault instances are taken seriously some even may result in criminal procedures and/ or student discipline procedures. Many colleges make it a priority to make the victim of sexual assault feel safe by allowing them to know the outcome of the case and whether or not the perpetrator will be roaming around the same campus as them.
