Prevention and Service for Sexual Assault through Guidance, Empowerment, and Support (P.A.S.S.A.G.E.S) Inc is a non-profit organization that started right here in Clarion. They have expanded their resources to Clearfield and Jefferson counties as well. The mission of PASSAGES, Inc. is to support the rights and needs of people who have been victims of sexual violence. They do this by promoting change through education. Individuals are welcome to free and confidential services. If someone needs legal and medical advocacy, PASSAGES, Inc. can help with that. Since sexual violence is so prevalent it’s nice to have a program to lean on. 1 in 4 females and 1 in 6 males will be sexually abused in some way by the age 18 (Passages-inc). Clarion must take the step forward and open a drug treatment center. Helping our people is the first step to doing what’s right because people make mistakes but then don’t have anyone else, so they continue making those same ones.
SAFE is an organization that provides free and confidential services to victims stuck in abusive relationships. They offer emergency shelter for domestic violence women and children. The most common victims of domestic violence usually range around women of 16-24 years old. It’s important to remember that men can be victims as well. Donna came in to educate students on abusive relationships and why victims can’t simply get up and leave.
On average, it takes 7 attempts for aa victim to leave their abuser. Fear for their life is the main reason but there are many other obstacles they must overcome to leave. The abusers in these types of relationships are master manipulators. They are controlling, make their partners decisions, and always want to be with their
