Sexual assault is detrimental to a victim’s mental health, health, and their life. But what is sexual assault? It is unlawful to harass a person (an applicant or employee) because of that person’s sex. The pop star's single, Swine, is about the incident. She said, “The song is about rape. The song is about demoralization. “ (Ranker.com) she has since also released a song called “till it happens to you” which in the music video explains rape on campus. This is raising awareness about rape on campus. Opera Winfrey was sexually assaulted as a child by a family member. Since then she has set up women shelters where women who are in abusive relationships or are being sexually assaulted can go to seek refuge. She also has organizations that support Victims.
Sexual Assault can often occur in a work environment. Sexual discrimination can be an aspect in sexual harassment. Sexual discrimination is when a person of a certain gender gets advantages faster or less deserving than the other. This violates the “Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. (workplacefairness.org) The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission enforces these laws
