One and five college students experience sexual assault during their college career. Today, one of the most dangerous realities that young adults face is the risk of sexual assault (Colleges, 2016). Sexual assault on college campuses has always been a major issue. In the past, more often than not, sexual assault on college campuses were pushed under the rug, making it seem as if they did not occur. In today 's society the topic of sexual assault on college campuses is no longer being overlooked.
Sexual assault on college campuses have always been an issue. In present day, the topic has become more profound. The law is no longer allowing sexual assault to be treated as less of a crime than other crimes. Sexual assault is a term that describes a wide range of unwanted sexual activity. For example, kissing, groping, oral penetration, and rape are all considered sexual assault. There are instances where victims are coerced into sexual acts through verbal or nonverbal threats. Victims can also be coerced through the use of substances such as, drugs and/or alcohol (Colleges, 2016). Although sexual assault has always been an issue on and off college campuses, new rules and regulations are being set in place as a way to educate students, faculty, and administration.
