Sexual Assault On Campus Research Paper

Sexual Assaults on college campus is an issue that effects all or most colleges. As a freshman on a new campus I feel like by reading and learning about sexual assault on campus can help keep me safe. It will also keep me informed about prevention and resources that are available to me. By introducing an article followed by a speaker helps to reinforce that sexual assault does happen but you can help prevent it. As a freshman, taking FYE I think that by making all students, mainly incoming freshman, sit through a speaker and also reading the article will help to know that these things do happen on campus. By providing information to students that are at the highest risk will help to keep this campus safe. I do however think that the speaker and article should have be one of the first things we did in class, because it would have given incoming students an idea of what happens on campus and who they can turn to. Both the article and the speaker were very informational. By handing the article out first it gave me a sense of what was to come from the speaker. …show more content…
The article was very informational with how it defined things and how they used real situations to make you see what it was really like. The use of real stats that came from colleges around the nation, kind of gave me a glimpse that it truly is a problem. However, the article to me seemed to be especially geared towards the fact that athletes are a major problem and that women are always victims. Personally I do think that athletes think they are entitled because they are given special treatment, it didn’t shock me to see some of the statistics that came from football players at Division one colleges.
