This group is for women that has experienced sexual assault, either physically or mentally. The group’s purpose is a safe place for women to talk about their experience and come to acceptance with what has happened. Also, to grow from the situation instead of the opposite. We would have the group meet in a private room on campus. The setup of the room would be, have the chair in a circle so that no one will feel excluded. There will be a table with refreshments such as, cookies, water, and coffee. We feel that providing a room with food will give off a very comfortable atmosphere so that everyone can feel welcomed and not tense. The type of group will be both psychoeducational and socialization.

(Szalacha & Westheimer, 2006) This is in hopes that women who have been through traumatizing life experiences that do not carry the dead weight on their shoulders where it would affect their academic or social lives. They want to give women a platform to be able to come to a place where they are able to overcome any type of sexual abuse they have encountered and hopefully use skills and techniques learned in the session to help themselves or other women from having reoccurring episodes. We would give the ladies surveys that ask questions such as “did you feel like this program helped you?”, “do you think different about your situation after attending the session?’’ and “how do you view yourself?”. As social workers, we would know if we have helped someone just solely based off their progression from session to session. We could observe someone that came in very closed in and then by the end is an open book. We would also, have a conversation at our last session that wraps everything up and give the girls one last chance to speak up on whether they would do the session again, or did they believe the sessions would be beneficial to other girls, and what could be done differently for the next group of women. In our vision having a successful group means that are women took something away from every session. If someone was struggling with dating due to their past and now they could come back to a session and tell the group about how they are dating a great man, then we know that the individuals taking something away from the sessions. Watching the women grow through new experiences or them even trying new mechanism would show us that the group is successful. Looking ahead, if our group session seems to not progress with each session and people are not willing to open up and take new ideas to help themselves, then that would make us aware that the group is

The National Institute of Justice’s article “Extending Time to Collect DNA in Sexual Assault Cases” explains the use and shortcomings of DNA profiling in identifying a suspect in a sexual assault case. DNA profiles require the use of short sequences that repeat a number of times, called short tandem repeats (STRs). With the current DNA profiling method, many jurisdictions protocols require to collect the samples within three days of the sexual assault. However, a viable analysis is still possible after 5-6 days after the incident. In this case, the female cells outnumber the available sperm cells and new technologies such as holographic optical trapping (HOT) enhance the separation of sperm and egg cells.…

While more than half of sexual assaults against women of college age occur off campus, on campus assaults are a problem that college and universities can and should do more to address. The best statistics show there is a correlation between 3 factors, alcohol use, sorority membership, and class status, and sexual assault on campus. To combat these trends colleges and universities need to address these factors while taking into account that any measures they take not simply move the problem from campus to off campus locations. This means that the measures taken should be centered on raising awareness, encouraging responsibility, and holding offenders accountable in a just way, while also addressing the campus code of conduct.…

In fact this controversial article has been used in court cases by defense lawyers attempting to minimize the crime. That’s why in 1999 the House of Representatives passed a resolution declaring that sexual relations between an adult and child is abusive and harmful, they condemned the study of the basis that it was being used to promote and justify sexual abuse.…

Sexual assaults are an unfortunate occurrence in the modern military. They can be very difficult to deal with in a command, but the fact of the matter is that they happen quite often. Furthermore, there were around 18,900 estimated cases of unwanted sexual conduct, shared between men and women. These numbers have increased over time, 2289 reported in 06 for example, but this may be due to the fact that the Navy and all branches are pushing for victims to come out, either to their command or a friend.…
