1LT Jamie R. Smith, a Troop Program Unit member of the USAR assigned to HHC, 66th Infantry Division, Fort Von Steuben (FVS), VA contacted the FVS IG Office complaining about three issues. First, 1LT Smith claimed her allegation of sexual assault was improperly addressed. Second, she claimed her command improperly handled a command investigation.…
It also shows that anyone can get sexually assaulted and would not even expect it because these young women sure were not expecting someone to be in the shoes when they went to the Larry…
The article did not attempt to evoke any sympathy for the perpetrator like is common in sexual offenses. There was no victim blaming but this is also because the women were perpetually defenseless and it would have been incredibly hard to paint them in any other light. It would’ve also been difficult to say he was falsely accused, which is what happens in a lot of sex crimes, because he was the one who turned himself in. The fact that it was a news article from a reputable source makes the story more credible. The article lets the readers read all of the facts for themselves at their own speed, unlike if they had heard it on a podcast or watched it on the news where they could have misheard a key part of the story.…
“Within the first 36 hours of the events in this case, the accuser denied being raped, claimed she was raped by 20 men, then 5 men, then 2 men and then 3 men, claimed that she was carried against her will from a car by Nikki and “Brett,” claimed that she was dancing with three other women, multiple other women and then only one other woman, denied ever being struck with fists, claimed that Matt was getting married, told the forensic nurse that Matt raped her vaginally and orally, that…
In some cases, the victims were made to feel as if it was their own fault. In other cases, there was little to no action taken at all. In one instance at Florida State University, where the victims alleged attacker was on the football team, she was told that “the football team is very powerful” as to tell her that she would never win her case or she had no case. The idea that these universities would not try and cover up these cases or infer that it was the victims fault is very much appalling. It is telling the students on these campuses they value money and the reputation of the school over the life or well-being of the students.…
The song “Cop Killer” by Body Count is a great example of the Conflict theory. The song expresses a class struggle between the working and ruling classes of people. From the perspective of the Conflict theory, crime is caused by economic inequalities. The ruling class enforces laws that define what crime is, which benefits the higher class by maintaining their privileged positions. The working class are stuck with unfavorable laws that lock them in a perpetuating cycle of crime.…

While sexaul assault is never the main point of discussion when discussing college, federal campaigning, and pervious survivors are making headway in the media. The way sexual assaults are handled is an issue that is at the point of change due to technological privacy. “Since my friends didn’t stand up for me, I urge other people to speak out. Because you can’t ignore an army of voices. I would like to see people stand up for others who have been assaulted because the words of our enemies aren’t as awful as the silence of our friends”. Often times you can feel trapped when you feel like the whole world seems to be against you and which is exactly what happened to two young teenage girls, Audrie and Daisy. The documentary, Audrie and Daisy, is a well intentioned exploration that intends to spread awareness of teenage sexual assaults, show social media can amplify a situation, and exposes a society that allows boys to disregard other people’s humanity.…
Through the course of this essay about sexual assault, it will start by summarizing the content of the presentation, then linking and viewing the content through the lens of theories related to the course content, and finally suggesting ways to overcomes this problem in Educational context The presentation started by defining what is sexual assault and the prevalent myths in our society. ‘’Sexual assault is any involuntary sexual act in which a person is coerced or physically forced to engage against their will, or any non-consensual sexual touching of a person. ’’ Sexual Assault." Carlos Wallace once said that, "The most dangerous among us come dressed as angels and we learn too late they are the devil in disguise". This quote speaks so many volumes and sheds light on the horrors of false characters, including rapists. Sex offenders don't show their true personality and identity due to their lack of morality. Tim Madigan continues to support this claim by explaining how sex offenders act very charming and receptive of women on the outside. However, on the inside, their realistic intentions are to be manipulative and commit horrific actions against innocent victims.…
Majority of these cases surrounds false rape allegation. For instance, Timothy Cole was a Texas Tech University student who was wrongly convicted in the 1985 rape of Michele Mallin. Cole was arrested and accused of being the Texas Tech rapist. The eyewitness account of one victim was all it took to get him imprisoned. Cole had never been in trouble with the law and didn’t match the description of the attacker a chain-smoking rapist.…

Hello, Mr. DeCoster! I stumbled across this video online and thought you might want to check it out. It's relevant to this chapter's subject of consent and it is also entertaining while exemplifying how absurd the logic people try using to justify sexual abuse is by relating to something as simple as making tea.…
I actually watched these videos with my boyfriend and I think he took them harder than I did. He just kept asking me why someone would do this to women let alone children, he looked so sad and confused. I told him I didn't have the answer to that question but that people are working very hard to stop this from happening. It was really eye opening though because neither one of us really knew anything about sex trafficking and how awful it is. It was nice to watch it with him though because we got to talk about the videos and the 3 women who were speaking, we talked about those videos for about 2 hours.…
