Colorado Mesa University is beginning to be a well-known school with great educators and great campus life. Although when a tragic things happen like sexual assault this campus and staff needs to be more aware how to handle it. Sexual assault can happen on campus with students all ages and sex. Creating a safe and serious environment where the victim can easily come to any staff member and be able to start the steps of SART. The problem with sexual assault on college campus is that less than twenty percent of people actually come out to admit they feel sexually assaulted. This campus needs to go beyond to make sure that every student is well aware of drinking habits and harassment. The alleged assaulter went around showing his friends then his friends texted the victim messages that completely destroyed her. This is a inappropriate way of handling a case as severe as this. As a case presents itself it needs to be confidential from start to finish. This will require both sides to have great supports from the school so that they don't need to talk about it to everyone in the halls. Each advisor needs to be there for moral support to get victim and alleged to a counselor while also being able to know the process and how everything will work throughout the upcoming months. This was not shown in her case and being a newer University this needs to be a flawless system. Girls and boys are going to be able to come to the school feeling that they are safe around the entire staff. This school needs to strive for everyday life to feel comfortable and enjoyable. A more relaxed living situation will give more time for focusing on school and growing in the student's degree. Focusing on giving each student a voice will have everlasting positive
