One out of three women is raped through her lifetime, so as one out of six men. I’m given seven minutes to speak today. Only during my speech time, about 4 people are being sexually assaulted. Every 107 seconds, an American citizen is being sexually assaulted. You don’t often hear about that. Because 68% of sexual assaults are not reported to the police. Now you’re probably thinking, this can’t possibly affect me. Well, it does. When you meet someone, they are not going to introduce themselves by saying “hey! Today, I will discuss the effects of sexual assaults on the victims. Then I’ll talk about the help of RAINN Organization provides for the victims. Finally, I’ll be presenting a specific action we all should take.
-Victims are severely harmed and affected.
- There are many short- and long-term effects of sexual assault and rape that affect the mind, body and spirit. Many survivors experience one or more of these effects and they are not mutually exclusive. For example, a physical reaction to trauma such as self-injury can be the result of depression
- 100% of completed rapes, 39% of attempted rapes, and 17% of sexual assaults against females result in injured victims. According to Rape Crisis Center.
- Depression the most common feeling by victims. Symptoms can include prolonged sadness, feelings of hopelessness, unexplained crying, changes in appetite with significant weight loss or gain, loss of energy or loss of interest and pleasure in activities previously enjoyed.

If we don’t help this organization, we will be helping the rapists get away and recommit their crimes again and again.

2. What RAINN is trying to achieve is giving the hope to the victims. As I mentioned that most victims feel helplessness and depression. Those people suffered so badly. They deserve help.
