Sexual Assault And Rape Research Paper

The victim I have chosen to focus on is one who has been assaulted cases. I live in the State of Maryland and most cases; victims of sexual assault are usually women. I have never heard of a sexual assault case that involves a person from the male gender being assaulted. The victim is seventeen years old, with very high hopes and dreams but all these seem to have been shuttered down by the ordeal which she underwent.
One way in which victims of sexual assault are aided is by first being assisted in getting in touch with the necessary authorities and reporting the incidence. Immediate medical attention is then given to the victim to ensure that they are protected from contracting sexually transmitted diseases or even getting pregnant. After getting the required treatment, some victims may have suffered mental torture, and the ordeal might be very disturbing to them, and it takes them time to come to terms with what happened to them (National Center for the Prevention and Control of Rape U.S. and National Institute of Mental Health U.S., 2011). …show more content…
The victims are usually given the therapy and counseling until ones feel that they have fully recovered and they can face the world with courage once more. Apart from the victims, their families and those close to them are also educated on issues regarding sexual assault and rape (Olshaker, J. S., Jackson, Smock and Ovid Technologies, 2014). They are given relevant information on what one should do in case they find themselves in such a situation and also how they should protect
