A very vulnerable time they are in when their emotions are all over the place and they feel uncomfortable. “The ad was accompanied with a message of awareness about puberty being a time when a girl's self confidence drops.” In 2011, a Feminine care product company created a campaign, “like a girl” which showed women differing from all ages of doing things, ‘like a girl”. In the campaign, the girls ranging from teenagers to adults did the wimpiest throws and punches and runs they could do. The girls between ages 4 to 11 did everything they could as best they could. That shows just how much society affects girls as they grow older telling them how a “girl” does things. Women aren’t just perceived to weaker, society does think women are weaker. Men think women are weaker and so do women. Girls know how hard it is to be women and men dont. Men dont know how hard it is to go through menstral cycles and give birth. Maybe if men went through the same things a girl did society would think differently.
Love Essex, another company with an ad campaign, told men they’re smart and women are just pretty. Sure, a girl likes to be called pretty but men have deeper compliments that reach lower than just surface level. Men provide for the family which is hard but the “tradition” leaves a women feeling worthless. They wake up every morning and get themselves ready, but for what? A 15 year old girl shared her feelings about her image, “I always feel like if i dont look a certain way, if boys dont think im sexy or ‘hot’, then ive failed and it doesnt even matter if i am a doctor or a writer, Ill still feel like nothing.” It’s the way men talk that make women feel as if being successful isn’t enough. It reaches so far as to a girl who doesn’t need her life to be figured out just yet feels if she isn’t pretty enough, then what’s the point. Mens’ words affect women more than anyone
