Moreover, including women into the technological workforce is simply the right thing to do because women deserve the rewards that come with computer science jobs, more women will neutralize sexism in the field, and it will break down stereotypes for what women think they are able to do. It is important to realize that women who are capable deserve the rewards that come with the rapidly growing computer science industry. Many jobs that fit under this spectrum offer a great income, a steady job, and work flexibility. On newsweek.com, Maria Klawe states “I also know firsthand how computer science and technology make for a great career, offering a good income, work-life balance and opportunities to travel. They also offer a chance to make significant contributions to the world, by working on important societal problems. …show more content…
Women often take on jobs that do not allow them to work at home if they need to, make a significant difference in the world, or have the ability to travel. When women work in technological fields, they can be more flexible in their work and life. In order to neutralize sexism in computer science workplaces, more woman need to be included. When women become less of a minority, they will become less outspoken and more stood up for. In a description for a Boston hackathon in 2011, they listed women as one of the hackathon perks saying that their friendly female event staff would supply beers to the participants. They received backlash for their description that had degraded women and they later apologized for their sexism
