Sexism in the workplace is an unending issue and it is where sexism is most commonly found. Being called 'sweetheart' or 'darling' can be considered a casual sexist remark in the workplace. Also if two women are talking most people would assume that they are gossiping about something. On the other hand, if it was two men someone would just assume that they are having a conversation about sports. Again going back to the same idea as the workplace it could be more casual instead of direct. Some teachers could favor one gender over another. I have been told a story where a girl in class was failing in her studies and noticed that a group of boys was doing better than she was. So she moved over there and sat by them, although her grade did not sky rocket it was improved. While sitting near them she noticed that the teacher favored the boys more than girls. While growing up I often heard the phrase “girls can’t do that” or “you are just a girl”. I heard this because it is assumed by many people that women are weaker than men, so when it comes to lifting something heavy that phrase is often put into play.
