The same sense of powerlessness could be felt by women. Supporting a client through a sexism situation might be challenging, this oppression can be emotionally debilitating. The effects of this negative energy can cause anger, depression and fear. A person could begin to question the value of their contributions or abilities when they have been in a system that does not recognize them. However, with time and positive reinforcement a person can recover from the negative situation. It is important that they begin to embrace their personal value and develop self-confidence. This structural oppression not only makes class mobility a struggle it places a strain on people finances. People are targeted because they live in areas identified by the profit margin the community generates. In other words people who make $40,000 or less can only find housing in low income areas. These areas are targeted my retailers and utility companies. The services in these area are inferior and the quality of the merchandise is most times substandard. Retailer supply poorly quality products at inflated prices. Due to the poor quality these high priced items must be replaced multiple times which destroys the consumers budget. The strategic actions of the large cooperation’s imprison people because of unfair pricing and rates of services in their neighborhoods.
