Human trafficking is not a new thing that has just recently begun, and the statistics on this issue are appalling. It is estimated that there are currently 27 million people in modern day slavery across the world and only 1-2% of those enslaved people will ever be rescued from this bondage. That is why I believe the bill H.R. 515: International Megan’s Law to Prevent Demand for Child Sex Trafficking is such an important bill. 515 because they are helping to push us towards what will hopefully one day be an end to sex trafficking. I believe nobody has the right to take somebody else’s freedom and rights away from them which is exactly what is happening when someone becomes trafficked. This issue also hits extremely close to home because Atlanta has been ranked on numerous occasions as one of the largest cities for sex trafficking. Trafficking is becoming such a massive problem that it is estimated that every 30 seconds someone else falls victim to human trafficking. As one of your constituents from the 3rd congressional district of Georgia, I hope that you will see my reasoning for wanting H.R. 515 to be passed, and that you will realize the importance of this bill for the young children who are not yet able to protect themselves from the sick and corrupted world that we are currently living
