In the documentary Sex, Lies and Cigarettes, (2012) Produced by J.Fraenkel, the narrator is trying to show viewers that although tobacco companies have to obey many laws in developed nations they rarely have any regulations in under developed ones. The narrator first began the film in the city of New York, where smoking is extremely expensive. There the regulations put on by the state and city officials have made it hard for tobacco industries. Thanks to the high levels of regulations the sale of tobacco products have fallen. The need to generate more revenue by the tobacco industries, in turn cause them to target less developed nations where there are no regulations. When the narrator lands in the country, he is amazed to see the amount of advertising there is about smoking and how it is portrayed. As he travels around the city he realizes that many of the people who smoke are young children and teenagers. He comes to the conclusion that the advertising of the tobacco industry is targeted towards introducing tobacco products young children and teenagers. They are achieving this by using different forms of tobacco propaganda and the young people are perceiving this as cool and attractive. After he interviews the people responsible of marketing tobacco products, they all reject the idea that smoking is being advertised towards the youth. Of course the respond that the narrator received was that they only target the adults in country on their advertising. He also questioned them on the number of people who have suffer from illnesses due to long term consumption without a proper side effect warnings. Due to the fact that there aren’t many, if any, regulations to the purchase and consumption of tobacco products. Many children are able to get their hands on these products fairly
