Charlotte York 's character represents the repressed female role of woman 's place being in the home raising children. Charlotte 's goals are focused on a very old world concept of females in the household, she strives to be defined by marriage and aims to have a man take care of her. Rather than broaden the horizon, they continue to discriminate against the idea that female characters are able to achieve more than finding love. Although shows like Sex and the City break the barriers to expose raw truth about woman experiences, but majority of poplar media remains stuck in their ways of portraying woman 's main objects as finding love. The industry state their demographic is geared towards male viewers ages 20 to 34 because this is hardest audience to reach. Programming is based around appealing to that demographic and in appealing to that group woman are portrayed in a more sexual, less intellectual manor.
