Without the woman being able to produce children, we would have no new life. Women make life changing sacrifices in order to endure childbirth. They should not be treated differently because of their choice to bring another life into this world. In the article “Hostile and Benevolent Reactions Toward Pregnant Women the fact is given that “...75% of women entering today’s workforce will become pregnant at least once while they are employed, and a sizable portion of these women will be pregnant when they are applying for jobs (Cleveland, Stockdale, & Murphy, 2000).” Because three-fourths of the female population entering the workforce are likely to become pregnant and could be subjected to discrimination, the Pregnancy Discrimination Act is very valuable.
