What happens when humans are exposed to a threat? In the texts Seven Themes for Modern Verse by Pete Porter, 1960’s and in The Hitch-hiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, 1979 by Douglas Adams they talk about an incoming threat towards the human population. Even though the two texts speak of the same subject they also contain many differences. Such as language, structure and so on.
As previously mentioned there is something these two texts have in common. They both mention a threat towards the earth. In the first text “Seven Themes for Modern Verse” the author writes about taking shelter from a nuclear rocket strike and what they should do to stay safe, whilst in the adapted version from “The Hitch-Hiker’s Guide to The Galaxy” you read about the moment when the vogons declared they were to obliviate the earth in order to make way for “the building of a hyperspatial express route”. this clearly shows that even though the texts speaks of the same theme they are still different in more than one aspect as the first text reflects on a more realistic scenario as it refers to a nuclear strike “a nuclear rocket strike of at least one thousand megatons has been launched by the enemy directly at our major cities” whilst the second is a fantasy novel shown by the use of aliens trying to destroy the earth.

Giving the text a lighter reading experience, as well giving more flow to the texts as it becomes easier to grasp the actual

In one, a person presents a proposal to fix the poverty issue in Ireland by eating children. The other tells a story of a superficial woman who makes a big fit about getting her hair stolen. But while Rape of the Lock and A Modest Proposal are two very different pieces of writing thematically, they share a lot of the same propaganda and humor techniques that were a hallmark of satirical writing during the Enlightenment. These techniques occur everywhere in both pieces of writing, and there are several that they share in common.…
