Perhaps I am sounding cynical, but it saddens and frustrates me to no end that this is the leadership that “we the people” have chosen as our representation for the USA. If we are to take to heart all the wonderful wisdoms throughout these readings, who is to guarantee that they will be recognized and pushed forward?! I’m deeply concerned that these gems will continue to be ignored and push us down into a place where the lowest common denominator is able to seize the day. Similarly, when we talk about good communication skills being a crucial piece to effective leadership, where have we gone wrong? Is all this effort by these knowledgeable thinkers for naught? Is there hope? Upon reading Susan Nilson Kibbey’s, Ultimately Responsible, the title alone states the obvious. With that said, what I appreciated most were the list of ideas and questions presented at the end of each chapter. Sometimes when trying to implement change it isn’t so much about having all the answers, but allotting time for the questions. Again, I am a “show me the money” type of person when it comes to problem solving. I want to find and answer quickly and then get it implemented. But with time, I also have learned that questions can provide room for creativity and inquiry that one might have not thought of
