The seven Habits profile was developed by FranklinCovey’s and it is a purpose-driven learning experience that focuses on the essentials of great leadership and its implementation. In this essay I will explore and evaluate my own qualities, characteristics, and shortcoming essentials of leadership. I will begin by reviewing the results of my own seven Habits Profile. In the Seven habits profile you will see that the first two categories are the fundamental habits of the Seven Habits profile and the next seven categories are the actual Seven Habits. I will be evaluating categories three through eight which are be proactive, begin with the end in Mind, put first things first, think win-win, seek first to understand, and synergize. In the Being Proactive Category I scored a 15 out of a total of 18 points which is considered very good. This habit …show more content…
For example, I believe in a higher power and with me believing in that higher power I believe my end was set in the beginning, which implies that certain aspects of my life are predestined to happen. On the other hand, I believe I do have control over accepting responsibility for my actions and for what happens to me. I began eating a lot of junk food and stopped going to the gym and now I must work extra hard to work off the pounds that I put on all because I had a season of laziness and greediness. In the begin with the end in mind category I scored a 11 which is the lowest overall score that I have on the seven habits profile but it is still considered good. Convoy sums up this category by having you put two questions in mind; What would you want people to say about you at your funeral, and What is your personal mission statement that refines what you want your life to be

Based on my “Seven Habits Profile” results, I would like to discuss how three strengths will help me succeed as servant leader. 1. The first strength I observed on my “Seven Habits Profile” is being proactive. This is the habit of taking responsibility for your life, not blaming others for your current situation, and controlling things you can control in your life. Being proactive means watching what my colleagues are doing and trying to stay one step ahead of them.…

In order to be an exemplary leader the authors, Kouzes and Posner, (2012), describe five practices that need to be implemented. Each practice defines leadership and what a leader should strive to perfect in being successful. To model the way shares the same concept of practicing what you preach, (Kouzes and Posner, 2012). If you want your subordinates to have a strong work ethic a leader must practice the same, by setting the example in order for others to follow, (Kouzes and Posner, 2012). As a leader you must be willing to roll up your sleeves and put forth the effort, your actions will set the pace, (Kouzes and Posner, 2012).…

After I read the 7 habits book, I started to know that I don’t actually have an appropriate balance among the various aspects of my life (family, friends, work, and so forth). I started to know this as I read the RBA (relationship bank account) pages. I came to know that about me because in the RBA section, RBA deposits and RBA withdrawals, I read the RBA deposits and I didn’t fit into all of them, but as I read the RBA withdrawals I came to know that I fitted into almost everything like Break promises, Talk too much, and Keep to yourself. I always do these kind of stuff to my friends, peers, and my best friends which makes it harder to keep up with my relationships. In the habit 4 worksheet, I had a lot of situations that relates to win- lose and lose- win attitude which I could have easily changed to a win- win situation, but I didn’t…

I completely agree all seven habits Stephen has written in this book, throughout the book Covey shares his own personal experiences instead of imagining situations you may be in, it is easier for the readers to relate to our everyday circumstances. I found there are particular areas of each habit to be more influential or relatable to my life. Listening to our language The way we chose to speak in normal conversation, formal presentations, and meetings contributes to our own perception as well as other’s perception about our education, competence, and professionalism.…

As a team, we will each work to expand on these characteristics by learning and building on our experiences. When asked: “How did you come to that philosophy, what traits and leadership characteristics do you think are important for a leader to possess and how those apply to your philosophy and the success of your organization?” My philosophy is supported with one of four classic approaches used to define the basic concept of leadership, the transactional approach. This approach tells us that the way one leads is directly attributed to the accumulation of influence to the reciprocal transactions between leaders and followers. Additionally, this philosophy is supported by Abraham Maslow’s theory that once the basic needs of survival and security are met, people concern themselves with higher needs like…

After reading Stephen Covey's "Seven Habits of Highly Effective Persons," I was deeply touched by my contemplation. As the saying goes: "The mind determines the action, the action determines the habit, the habit determines the character, the morality determines the destiny. " Habit has a great influence on our life because it is consistent, unconsciously affecting our character, Exposing our nature, affecting our success or failure. The seven habits discussed in the book are not only valuable to high-performance people, but also the creed of self-cultivation in life. They are very brilliant and correct truths in life.…

This week we were assigned to read portions of the book titled The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Steven R. Covey. I saw this week’s reading as a sort of introduction to the actual list of habits that Covey is going to share with us later in the book. I identified four main points that Mr. Cover talked about. The first one is the “Pygmalion Effect” (Covey, 1989, 2004). Covey then talked about Character Ethic and Personality Ethic.…

The Leader in Me Website offers a host of ideas and resources for helping today 's kids become strong, responsible, and caring citizens who learn the skills needed to become leaders. The 7 Habits are a key component behind the program and emphasizes to students the fundamental truth that their education and future depend upon ultimately upon their own choices, efforts, and actions. I admire this program because of its emphasis on the 7 Habits which I believe are applicable to all people regardless of age, gender, race, religion, etc. In a society where some are ignorant of the deeper concepts of respecting elders and being responsible or accountable I believe these 7 Habits have the potential to change a person 's outlook on life and…
