In the article Seven Characteristics of a Good Learner written by Maryellen Weimer, the author talks about the seven characteristics a good learner has. The first characteristic, good learners are curious, is one that I relate with. Weimer describes this characteristic as a person who wonders about a variety of subjects beyond their scope and loves the discovery aspect of learning and this curiosity being highly addictive. (Weimer) I absolutely love to gain new knowledge of anything and everything. One of my favorite pass times is watching documentaries that cover all sorts different of topics. Another show I enjoy watching on the Discovery channel is “How it’s Made.” This show aims at educating people on how things are made; although because of this show I no longer eat hot dogs. My curiosity about learning different subjects led me to subscribe to different “fun fact” pages on social media where they usually post a few fun facts about random topic every day. I have found this to be very addicting as I find myself waking up every morning to check in on my social media news feed to read about the fun facts posted for the day. These fun facts usually satisfy me at a given moment but I never take the next step of learning beyond that bit of knowledge learned.
