I feel that these seven practices are what carries the philosophy of Service Learning in Maryland. By utilizing these practices a student can properly and successfully serve in the classroom. I account this to the fact that I have taken the class before and have the knowledge to help without having to learn new material. I am always happy to help students around the classroom because then it makes their learning experience easier for them. I also love teaching people little tips and tricks that I learned throughout my time in taking the class. One thing that is difficult for me, is people not understanding on the first or second try. I am a fast learner and it is different to me to see how people learn and absorb knowledge in a way that is different than mine. Once a person does understand the material it is very satisfying to know that I helped someone learn something new. I have learned things from helping others learn. I have picked up that a teacher should never give up on a student. At the beginning it was frustrating for me when someone would ask me the same question over and over but once they did learn it was satisfying to know that I helped make that connection. It takes different amounts of time for things to click for certain people but the important thing is that they learn the skill. Another neat thing about helping in a classroom is that I learn things about others. Just the other day a freshman told me that they want to be a nurse and it was really cool to see their eyes light up about their dreams in life. I now realize that although I am not a student in
