Task 1

Produce an information sheet which outlines the following:

• current legislation for home-based childcare

• The role of regulatory bodies

Task 2

In order to operate a home based childcare service, the following policies and Procedures must be in place:

• Accidents, Illness and Emergencies

• Behaviour

• Safeguarding

• Equal opportunities

Write a policy for each of the above, and write a procedure to explain how each of the policies will be implemented. Four policies are four procedures are required

Improving outcomes for all children and young people underpins all of the development and work within children's trusts.

Children and young people thrive when they are healthy, safe and engaged and evidence shows that educational achievement is the most effective route out of poverty.

These guidelines have been put in place to make sure that all individuals who are involved in looking after children, know how children should be treated through the eyes of the law.

Every Child Matters - is a programme aimed at transforming children's services and is a pioneering piece of legislation which are supported by The Children's Act 2004.

Its aim is for every child, regardless of their backgrounds and circumstances to have all the support they need in terms of being healthy, enjoying and achieving in every day tasks, staying safe and making positive contributions.

The Green Paper was built on existing plans to strengthen preventative services by focusing on four key themes:

1. Increasing the focus on supporting families and carers - the most crucial influence on children's lives

2. Ensuring necessary interventions take place before children reach crisis point and
