In the book “Night” the author uses setting to foreshadow the upcoming events. Every time it turns night, something bad happens. The author writes “despite the growing darkness I could see my father’s face turn pale(12).The fact that they are describing the every time something bad happens ties in with how sinister and bad the darkness of night appears to be. The Nazis really hated the Jewish population. When the author wrote “the heat was oppressive”(16). The Nazis didn’t care if they wanted anything, even standing in blistering heat with no water. The Jewish Population was imprisoned. The author wrote “the barbed wire that encircled us didn’t fill us with real fear. They didn’t feel real fear because nothing was happening right that instant.
