“Sunny day, sweepin’ the clouds away, on my way to where the air is sweet, can you tell me how to get, how to get to Sesame Street?” These catchy lyrics can only be identified as the iconic children's show, “Sesame Street”’s theme song. Over the years, the program has come a long way from its creation, first episodes, and cast and special guests. Despite these changes, Sesame Street remains a household favorite and will continue to be for years to come.

As the eventful decade of the 1960’s came to an end, the creation of Sesame Street came with it. Joan Ganz Cooney, Lloyd Morrisett, and Jim Henson all worked together to form the first muppets and episodes of the series. Their goal was to create a show for preschoolers that would educate them

Depending on the number of seasons, you probably finished it in a week or less. Now, if you tried watching every episode of Sesame Street, it would take you far longer than that. The program currently has 47 seasons and hundreds of episodes, each one teaching different topics such as identifying shapes, counting numbers, and learning the alphabet (watchmojo.com). Not only does the show teach basic learning skills, but how to deal with heavier situations including grief and overcoming fears. According to the official Sesame Street twitter, they created a special episode in 1992 where Mr. Snuffleupagus’ parents went through a divorce, but the episode was never aired because it was too serious (cnbc.com). Whether the issue be big or small, eight million Americans still tune into the show weekly, as well as millions of other people in the 120 countries Sesame Street airs …show more content…
Kids and adults everywhere have learned to love the educational show, and hundreds more are drawn to it each day. No matter where we are, we'll always know how to get to Sesame Street, take a left on your TV guide and go straight until you reach HBO. You can't miss it, Big Bird and the rest of the gang will be right there waiting for you.
