During this affair the women’s soccer team was assigned to work at the Gospel Mission Thrift Store, where we hung and sorted clothes and later placed them on racks. On first arrival the racks for clothes were empty, after our four hour shift the clothes were smooshed together so tightly there was no room…

350 word limits Essay Question - Other than your Eagle Scout leadership service project, what service have you provided to your community during your high school years? During my high school years, I have primarily provided service through my participation in the Christiana Care VolunTeen program and through the various clubs that I lead. Specifically, I worked in the Outpatient Pharmacy, SurgiCenter, and Pathology/Histology Lab, assisting patients and doctors with their various needs and tasks.…

I started building my foundation for community service back in fifth grade with Girl Scouts. My troop volunteered at the Ronald McDonald House, read to kindergartners, and organized food at the food pantry. I continued these acts all the way up through eighth grade. In high school, I joined Key Club, where I sold flowers for powder puff, volunteered at my elementary school’s Trunk or Treat, and helped with the book and coat drive. Outside of school, I continued serving in my church through events like VBS.…

That helped me look at life in a simpler way, and taught me to put aside anything I was going through to make this young student’s day. I’ve also had the chance to see the unfairness of the world impacting those in my community when I volunteered at two Center for Human Development (CHD) programs. I have helped out at the Grace House, a program for mothers who are in recovery from addiction, and their children. I’ve also helped at a farm share held for homeless families in CHD shelters, which provides them with free…

The only way to gain experience is to put in the hours, and Gustavus Adolphus’ study buddy program creates the ample opportunity for future educators to spend time volunteering in classrooms as part of a service learning experience. There were a variety of openings avaible this semester to interact and observe the daily events that take place inside of a public school. I personally took advantage of a need for a math tutor for freshman students as part of study hall at St. Peter High Middle and High School. Once a week I volunteered through the guidance counselors to tutor a one boy and a girl in pre-algebra. Our meetings usually consisted of me going through their homework with them and explaining any concepts they had questions on in class.…

After observing the amount of litter, trash, and dead trees across my local park during my service-learning project, my insight about pollution and the cutting down of trees increased and lead me to have more empathy about the issue I was researching. For my service-learning project I participated in “Clark Park Cleanup”, the purpose of which was to assist in cleaning up Clark Park, planting trees, and promoting the importance of trees and clean parks for our environment. While completing this project I learned many things, some of which being the importance trees have on our environment, and how having clean parks are beneficial for our nation. It helped me understand the issue I was researching more deeply and helped me connect with the issue. Three words that best describe my service-learning experience would be enlightening, appreciative, inspirational.…
