They are the ones who are in charged with the daily tasks of dealing with the animals. The biggest numbers of people who help out at the humane society are volunteers like myself. They are always looking for people to come in and help with a number of different tasks like: walking dog, cleaning dishes, doing laundry, brush animals, and different types of yard work. My first couple days there I worked in the cat room cleaning and washing dishes but I have always been a dog lover so I got moved to help clean dog dishes and kennels. So my last 15 hours or so where spent with dogs, which I truly enjoyed. The people that work and volunteer at the HSNWIA have so much love for the animals that they care for and do their best to make sure that the animals get as much attention as possible. All dog get a chance to be walk or put out side in the fenced in area to be exercised and played with each …show more content…

Volunteering at my city's animal shelter is probably one of the most rewarding experiences I've had. At Indianapolis Animal Care Services, people come in to surrender pets, adopt pets, and volunteer time to shelter pets. I have definitely gotten attached to my work at the shelter because I feel like I'm making so much of a difference.…

In addition to that club, I have volunteered at two pet shelters through The Benjamin Animal Rescue Club. The first one, Furry Friends, was significant because I was able to gather and purchase goods and necessary items that a pet shelter needs on a daily basis. The second shelter I volunteered with, A Second Chance Rescue, had an animal adoption day at a local pet store. I was able to demonstrate Service by supporting the adoption of the dogs that currently had no…

For my service learning project, I want to be able to help people in my community, and use this project as a way to leave a positive impact on someone. Because of this, I decided to tutor middle school kids at Central Middle. This allows me to achieve the aforementioned goals, as I am able to affects kids’ education, and hopefully leave a positive impact on it. In addition, tutoring allows me to experience something I have not ever tried before, and yet I have had many people teach me. It is almost a responsibility to all of the teachers that have spent their time to educate me for me to spread my acquired knowledge to other kids.…

When I think of a christen Moral life one of the first things that come to mind is the Bible. I would go on to say the morality of a true Christian would necessarily come from the Bible. It declares what is right and what is wrong for man in God's sight. The Scriptures indicate that when a person has been forgiven their sins, by trusting in Christ as the one who paid for those sins by dying on the Cross, that they will have a new life. This new life, as a Christian, is to be different from the common thinking of the sinful world, putting aside the former ways of life.…

Ever since I was little I have been involved in 4-H. This program has taught me how to be responsible, organized and a leader by allowing children like myself to be active in their communities. Every year we are required to do a certain amount of voluntary work. I have volunteered at many local events, such as 4-H Fair Clean Up Day, JucFest, Sod Buster and Ethan’s Rodeo. This summer, I was given the privilege to give back to my community in a huge way. Normally, my volunteer opportunities assist a few people or animals, but this opportunity affected an entire village.…

In our social justice class, we have learned many lessons that can help us make daily life and society as a whole better. We have learned how to handle real life situations and how some groups are more advantaged than other groups. For this reason, we were assigned to write how we would handle some hypothetical problems and what we learned from our service learning. Doing these problems will show what I have gotten out of the class and what I will bring with me to help the world become a better place in the future.…

Starting my service learning experience was difficult at first but after planning and figuring out what I wanted to achieve from it, it became easier to accomplish. In the beginning of planning my SLE I knew that I wanted to help donate to a big organization. I repeatedly told myself “the smallest action can make a huge change”. It was a challenge to figure out where I was going to get the money from in order to donate. That was until I meet Ivonne Farfan, the owner of “RENTMEUSA”.…

For my volunteer service, I chose the game day parking help for the Rosenbaum Family House. The Rosenbaum Family House is a “home away from home” for families facing a medical crisis. As someone who has spent a lot of time traveling to doctors over the years, I know first-hand it can not only be exhausting but pricey. They give a more affordable option to those without a checkout time, for as long at their family member is at the hospital. I chose this to give back to an organization helping people at some of their most desperate times.…

Service learning can be a rewarding experience for both participated and the person who uses the volunteer. The experiences I have opened my time to be involved in are not the types of activities I’m normally not interested in. In order to get my service learning volunteer hours I had to go for three days at two different locations.…

Moreover, service learning taught me valuable insights about how the real world of teaching operated. Service learning allows those that are involved to get a hands-on teaching experience, but on a smaller scale. By limiting yourself to one or two students, the tutor is able to comprehend how much work goes into helping students and allows them to learn how to differentiate or make instructions and knowledge more accessible. By doing service learning, therefore, tutors learn how to assist student’s needs on a smaller scale, so that later when they have a broader network of students, they already have an idea how to help them and maximize their learning experience. However, despite this service learning experience, I did not feel a stronger connection with GOVS or the community.…
