The CDI Service Learning Internship serves to provide valuable professional and career developmental experience to an undergraduate student who is passionate to learn about the multiple sectors of non-profit management and operations. The intern will gain a service-oriented leadership experience through their efforts of support to the CDI staff and members. The fields touched are areas of public relations, program research, and event planning and program execution. The intern is expected to work 15-20 hours a week in office contributing and expanding their professional skills the mission and goals of CDI. The internship is unpaid therefore I have decided to apply for the Al Neely Scholarship to make this experience attainable and affordable. I am a current CDI Scholar therefore we were all given the opportunity to apply. The location of the internship will be at the CDI Office at 4833 Rugby Ave #301, Bethesda, MD 20814. If funds were allocated to me, I would also be able to cover my transportation costs as well as any possible meals while interning. I find this opportunity to be valuable because of my current relationship and previous experience with CDI. I have been seeking an opportunity to give back to the organization because of all the efforts and hard work they have been able to contribute into my current success. I have a great relationship with the employees as well, which can definitely play a huge role in the communication and collaborative efforts. I personally have been able to develop my professional and career skills here at Ohio State. In my strategic communications major, I have been able to take marketing, persuasive writing, and advertising classes.
