Using the Servant Leadership Theory does have its downsides, unfortunately. One issue is that other leaders utilizing other leadership techniques could see the Servant Leadership methods as weak. One of the biggest issues with Servant Leadership Theory is that the leader is constantly sharing things as opposed to keeping thigs like information and power to themselves (Daft, 2014). This leadership style could make other leaders underestimate the power that a leader using the Servant Leadership Theory maintains. I know particularly in the Office of the District Attorney where I currently work, other departments are predominantly male-run, by men who have no qualms giving orders. While being passionate about a career is fantastic, it can lead someone to not feeling like their work is never done. I know I have a very hard time with leaving the office before I can get as much done as possible. I love my job but it can be very stressful and I have a difficult time learning how to disconnect. Technology has made it so much easier to get work done but it has become a double-edged sword of sorts. I am able to access my emails from my cell phone, and if I need to access more than that my desktop at work is actually built around a tablet which I can bring home with me. The ease of technology has brought work to wherever I am and it is not easy for me to see a notification about a new email pop up and not read it or respond to it. Another issue that I am trying to stop is scheduling problems. My current work schedule allows me to have every other Friday off, but when a Deputy District Attorney schedules a hearing for one of my cases on my Friday off, I find it so hard to enjoy my day off or I might go in just to attend the hearing if I know the victim or their family will be present. I have noticed that not being able to disconnect from work was causing me a great deal of stress and I know I need to work on that. I hope that by slowly takes steps to reduce my stress level about work it will help me focus more during the time I am at the office so when I am away I can disconnect and

My definition of leadership is very simple: leadership is having the ability to mobilize and empower a group towards a common goal. I find that with a much general definition of leadership as a base, it allows for different styles and theories to come from it. My preferred leadership style, for example, is the servant leadership model. The servant leadership model was formalized by Robert K. Greenleaf. My leadership model, as similar as it may be to that of Greenleaf's, came from home.…

Burton et al. (2017) contend the answer is a movement from a transactional form of management into one of servant-based leadership. Before I began this journey of going back to school to get my degree I did not know if I could do what was needed to finish. However, as I have gotten into my coursework and started to learn what it is to be a leader, there have been concepts and terms that I have clung on to. For instance, cultural diversity, conflict resolution, decision making, problems solving, quality, and now servant-leadership. I have been an IT professional for over twenty years, starting off as a pc technician that supported faculty and staff at OU with their computer issues at the College of Engineering. Then moving into a management role, providing direction to my team to continue to give customers excellent support, guidance, and knowledge to the rest of campus.…
