An organization that has allowed me to find an issue that I am passionate about is servant leadership. I have learned how to put others before myself. As a member, I have stood up for many things between our local and regional projects that raise money for specific causes. The one cause that I have stood up for and is one of the most important issues to me is world hunger. I have stood up for world hunger awareness by becoming involved in an organization called Hearts and Hands for Hunger and raising public awareness of the issue. I am making a stand to rise against starvation, which has killed many children and adults all over the world. I am involved in Hearts and Hands for Hunger that is held at Highland Community College in Freeport, Illinois. This event hosts hundreds of volunteers that come to put together a meal made from soy, rice, and vitamin packets. I wanted to make my voice count. Everyone feels hungry on a daily basis. Most people are able to satisfy this craving and need. Even if not immediately, they can count on having a meal or snack within hours. People who suffer chronic hunger do not have the option of eating when they are hungry. They do not get enough calories, essential nutrients, or both. People who are hungry have an ongoing problem with getting food to eat. They have one worry, which is how they will feed themselves and their families. They have little energy for anything else. This is why I stood up for world hunger

Why are so many people starving when there is enough food for them to be healthy? One reason may be the unfair distribution of food, which seems to be based on wealth rather than the needs of the nation. These contrasting issues demonstrate the situation in which the wealthiest nations have more food than they need to be healthy while the poorest countries do not even have enough to prevent death from starvation. Food waste is another demonstration of the severely distorted distribution of food.…
