Servant Leadership Research Paper

There are many commitments a person makes in life, however the greatest commitment an individual can make is to commit their life to the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Within this committal, profound and essential changes occur bringing new and contrary opportunities. However, one of the most challenging and overwhelming is His call to Servant leadership. There are many definitions for a Servant Leader, however Jesus being the ultimate model defined a servant leader by stating, "Whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first must be your slave—just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many" (Matt. 20:26-28). In this passage of scripture, the term "servant" (Matt. 20:25) in the Greek means slave (Strongs Greek, 1401, p.24), and being a slave means someone has ownership of you. Therefore every one in the Christian arena has been called by God to serve as a servant / slave.
