Being a servant leadership is a team approach and as an employer of a pizza place and convenient store I try and challenge the system. I give positive and enthusiastic directions to my employees while engaging with each one through caring, asking questions and opinions as well as being proactive and working hands-on. I try and earn their respect as their leader. I also try and understand their needs to influence and empower them to grow, be open-minded as well as show them to have that willingness to each customer as they see and come in contact with. The word servant in Matthew 20:27 means “slave.” Not every servant was a slave, but every slave was a servant. There are many who want to “exercise authority” (Matthew 20:25), Paul reminds us that our attitude is to be like Christ’s in that we consider others better than ourselves and do nothing out of vanity or selfishness. In my opinion, Brett Spencer is an example of a servant leader leadership. He’s a judge of our county courts, a coach, a friend, and a public speaker. He cares about what you are doing and always puts you before himself. He’s that person who we look up too that gives as motivation, respect, and inspires as he speaks. Brett is one when he begins to speak everyone stops to listen. I heard him give a speech once to the kids at are high school and he had me in tears as he was speaking he was so good, when he speaks he empowers you in encouragement to make you want to do
