Jesus said “You know that those who are regarded as rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their high officials exercise authority over them. Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first must be your slave, even as the Son of Man come not to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many”. Although the idea of servant leadership is over two thousand years old it is sometimes hard to find it in the workplace. Most of the time it is the master’s way of leadership that is used in practice. Our corporation views servant leadership as a weakness; furthermore, the cooperation or any cooperation has no soul. Profit is its only motivation. There is a fiduciary responsibility to increase profits and stock share prices for the shareholders. The idea that …show more content…
Employees that feel that they are part of the solution are more inclined to generate ideas. For the most part, employees at Kilgore are willing and eager to do their best to ensure the success of the company. We, as managers, need to learn how to server our employees. We must give them the freedom to make their own decisions. The middle management team at Kilgore, me included, is under a lot of stress to perform. Last week I was in meetings from 7:30am until 4:00pm with a break for lunch. They were meetings like Scrap reduction, Inventory control, safety committee, senior staff. In the last meeting the vice-president asked me if I had completed one of the tasks from the first meeting. I was not sure that he relegalized we were in the same meetings and that I had no time to complete the task since I was in meetings all day long. With this type of activity how can I serve my employees? I have started bowing out of meetings as soon as my input is completed. I am reviewing my schedule to make time for more employee
