Sermon Focus
After reading what Long said about a sermon I found that it requires many different techniques in composing a proper sermon. A refined sermon is one that is critiqued and refined to fit the demands of the congregation, yet without the teacher (Holy Spirit) it will be on none effect. Consequently, a sermon is to be rectified by the preacher as they flow through the Holy Spirit to conclude the discourse with the necessary components for the congregation. In fact, Long stated, “A focus statement is a concise description of the central, controlling and unifying theme of the sermon.
