Theme One: Unique Criminal Patterns Compared To Other Classes Criminal behaviour amongst the nobility during the Fourteenth-Century was distinct from the lower orders for several reasons. In her article Hanawalt defines the nobility as the “fur-collar” class and defines this group as ranging from the wealthy and ancient gentry to the higher nobility. The main distinction Hanawalt remarks that most of the crimes the nobility committed during the Fourteenth-Century related to their control of wealth and power. Most of their criminal activity related to their occupations and position in society, therefore it was not considered criminal and even tolerated and expected, as long as it did not become excessive. This class tended not to commit felonious…

She is against not raising the Blood Alcohol Limi because she wants our officers to focus on actual criminals. What she means are the ones that are murdering people, stealing, and performing violent crimes. She believes the law enforcement in the United States needs to focus on criminals that are doing much more to warm people. “Such a law could set back safety efforts and give criminal records to millions of responsible adults.”…

The Netflix original show, Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency is about a detective named Dirk who recruits reluctant, and fairly normal, Todd to solve a murder, all while exploring the interconnectedness of all things. Throughout the show, the amount of control any given person has over their life is questioned. Philosophers debate as to whether humans have choices in life, or if they only have the illusion of choice. Existentialists presume that people have as much choice as they do responsibility. For example, danish philosopher Kierkegaard, thinks that existing is a privilege that should be honoured by taking responsibility.…

The Uniform Crime Report (UCR), was developed by the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP), in 1920 as a resource of uniform crime data and to counter media generated crime-waves. The report listed crime data collected from police departments from around the nation, and it listed. After its publication, the report has been criticized as a useless tool to show measurements, and conclude any outcomes from it. There are many issues with the data in the report, such as the way data is collected, the bias in presenting the data, the ability to hide information or misrepresent numbers.…

I agree with Brian, I believe that a lot of people do not report crimes (Dark Figure of Crime) because they have lost hope in the justice system. In addition, there are a lot of other reasons people do not report fraud such as people not wanting to get involved with authorities, lack of time, retaliation and its magnitude of the fraudulent act. I thought it was important when you mentioned that people should report it so it does not happen to someone. I think initially when frauds such as identity theft occur many victims only think about what happened to them and do not think of what is happening to others. Since the process of going forward with an investigation is exhausting people may not want to report it.…

There is little doubt amongst either scholars or academics that the Crime and Disorder Act 1998 was a radical, innovative and in some ways controversial piece of legislation which has undoubtedly changed the way that approaches to crime reduction and community safety in the UK are perceived (Moss, 2016). It would however be exceptionally relevant to conclude by mentioning some of the many problems that have been associated with the implementation of such legislation. It has been proven somewhat difficult for Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnerships to develop and implement the strategies that the Act required of them. For some this has resulted in a lack of focus about crime reduction strategies, whilst for others it has simply come down…

There’s no doubt that crimestoppers is very effective when it comes to catching criminals in a day to day basis. As a matter of fact, approximately a half of million felons have been caught with the help of 1200 programs that are taking place in the United States (“Crimestoppers,” 2016). Without crimestoppers, I believe the crime rate in the our society today would be much high than it is today because of the idea that more perpetrators would be getting away with crimes…
