Among the most well-known serial killers are names like Charles Manson, Ted Bundy, Tommy Lynn Sells, and so on. These men are regarded as vicious and have killed multiple people. Common myths about serial killers that often cloud our visions of them are that these killers are white men, motivated by sexual desires, and are anti-social. Why do we see so many serial killers like this? The answer could be attributed to two infamous American serial killers. They go by the names Donald Henry Gaskins and Jeffrey Dahmer.
Donald “Pee Wee” Gaskins was a killer in the United States. He is best known for his nickname, “Pee Wee,” a name he was given due to his small structure. This feature contributed to an endless amount of mockery and ridicule. Early in Gaskins’ life his mother had many partners, all of which had beaten him constantly. When his mother married, he was beaten by his step-father daily. He disliked going to school because of continual bullying and frequent fights with the other school children. The young boy quit school at age 11 and around this time he began to work at a garage fixing things such as cars and machines. On various occasions he even ate the limbs of his victims and forced them to eat their own flesh. Finally after years of killing, Gaskins was caught after an accomplice, Walter Neely, confessed to aiding in eight murders with Gaskins. Initially Gaskins had received the Death Sentence, however the Death Penalty was deemed unconstitutional and he received seven life sentences.
