Why People Become Serial Killers

Society has constructed a set variety of norms that all serial killers are naively presumed to follow. Many myths state that all serial killers are loners, have a mental disability, and have an underlying desire to get caught. The question on what to blame for a person becoming a serial killer has always haunted authorities. It would be a gullible and uneducated claim to base all serial killers in one set of norms, especially when the nature of a serial killer shows their individuality through the meticulously chosen manner of murdering. The most reasonable response to the causes behind why people become serial killers can be traced back to the mixture of all environmental, biological, physiological, and psychological factors. Serial killers have and always will exist among average people, which is why there are so many myths regarding them. The lack of understanding that circulates the reasoning behind the cause of people becoming serial killers has forced people into believing false theories such as the assumption that all serial killers are loners, are afflicted by a mental disorder, and secretly want to be caught. The causality is known to be a combination of environmental, biological, and psychological factors, but even with all of those present the fate of every individual rests at said individual’s hands. However, an individual that has been negatively afflicted by all of those factors is not necessarily predisposed into becoming a serial killer, instead the individuals choices throughout life is what will define them as either an individual that has overcome difficulties or an individual that chose to become a serial
