To say someone is born with the mind of a serial killer, is a bit of a stretch, but it simply means the person were born with a fault or defect that caused them to grow into the killer they became. One of the causes of a born serial killer is a difficult birth that caused vitamin deficiencies (Onusic). Lack of vitamin A, for example, has a very negative effect on the human brain and can be a main root to violent behavior. It can lead to conditions such as schizophrenia, lack of awareness, and even delusions. (Onusic). Vitamin A is also considered to be fundamental to the brain’s maturation and development (Onusic). If an infant does not obtain the vital amount of vitamin A during birth, it may end up experiencing abnormal behavioral patterns later in life (Onusic). Another case of difficult birth is substance abuse in the womb. It is said that children who are exposed to substance abuse such as alcohol, will experience drastic birth defects in the womb. A specific type of traumatic experience that create serial killers is childhood abuse or neglect. These two things could lead to PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder), anxiety, and other phobias that affect human behavior (Brogaard). A mother’s relationship with an infant or child is also a key creation of a serial killer (Vronsky). If a mother is deemed to be too overprotective, over controlling, or physically and mentally abusive, it can affect the child’s human personality in an immensely negative way(Moesch). This is because there are numerous serial killers who manifested their feelings of persecution into the form of killing (Moesch). Another traumatic experience that could turn a child into a serial killer is if an individual has experienced some type of sexualy stressful event. (Gerber).
