A serial arsonist is someone who compulsively sets fires. 25% of all fires started are arson. On average, arson causes $2 billion dollars in property. 700 lives are lost a year due to arson. Most arsonists are male, only about 10% of arsonists are females. Children are the culprits of about 50% of fires. Of the children, 70% of them are under 10. In 2010 the average dollar amount lost for a fire set $17,612.
