The dialogue between Sergei and the goldfish reveal that they are close friends because the goldfish knows he is not a murderer. Although they are good friends, the goldfish wants to escape Sergei of wanting to be free by using the last wish on Yoni to bring him back to life. One event from the story, Sergei killed Yoni but the goldfish responded “You do have one wish left”(Keret 7). With the one wish that Sergei has can bring Yoni back, getting advice from a friend but an escape out of here to try to convince Sergei to use it.
