Serena Williams was born September 26, 1981, in Saginaw Michigan. At the age of four she started playing tennis, and quickly was found by the tennis academy of Rick Macci, who polished their natural skills and talent. By 1991 she was ranked 1st in the 10 and under division, at the tennis association junior tour.
Serena started playing professional in 1995, one year after her sister started playing professional. Four years later she completed her career grand slam in 1999. Then in 2002 she received her first ranking of world number one. But it took a lot to get there. Serena finished porley in three event, ending she and her sisters 16 event win streak. She and her sister had to pull out of wimbleton's double event because of injury. But she came back strong winning a few events and tournaments in a row then finally beating the former world number one to win her first grand slam in 1999. After that she was ranked 4th. In just her second year on the pro tour.

But about midway through the 2001 season she entered the Pacific Life Open. Though she did win that event Serena did not enter that event again for until 2015 because of how the crowd acted. They believed that the williams sisters where fixing that match by not playing against each other so that Serena would be more rested for their final match. Now this happening does not seem extremely common, but I must imagine that if the williams sisters were white they would face much less scrutiny, and people would look a little farther for a reason for venus to pull out.
