It sounds better to say creative, but the reality is that I’m late to most events, my hair and clothes are usually disheveled, and no day planner has ever lasted me longer than four days. This memo will define which attributes I intend to improve as well as the process in which they will be improved. The three personal attributes requiring the most attention are 1) thoughtful and careful rather than impulsive and impetuous, 2) calm and composed rather than anxious and nervous, and 3) patient rather than impatient.…

Based on my “Seven Habits Profile” results, I would like to discuss how three strengths will help me succeed as servant leader. 1. The first strength I observed on my “Seven Habits Profile” is being proactive. This is the habit of taking responsibility for your life, not blaming others for your current situation, and controlling things you can control in your life. Groundhog Day: Are You Repeating the Same Patterns? Remember the 1960's Sonny and Cher song "I Got You, Babe?" In the wonderful movie "Groundhog Day," that song is the one that Bill Murray's character, Phil, wakes up to every morning. The first time it happens, he continues on with his day, not sensing any oddities with how his day will unfold. Each subsequent day, however, the song is his indicator that he will be repeating the same day over again.…

Introduction Rapid sequence induction (RSI) is the administration of an anesthesia induction agent followed immediately by a paralytic agent prior to insertion of an endotracheal airway (Reynolds & Heffner, 2005). Oxygen desaturation is considered one of the most frequently occurring complications of endotracheal intubation (ETI) after administration of RSI agents. Following administration of a paralytic agent, there is a period of apnea while the provider utilizes a laryngoscope in an attempt to pass an endotracheal tube through the trachea. It is during this period of time that oxygen saturation levels rapidly decline. The current standard of practice includes pre-oxygenation by use of a non-rebreather mask (NRB) at 15 liters per minute (L/min),…

In order to talk about why “Attention to Detail is Important,” we must define what I believe that attention to detail is. How I define “attention to detail” is showing care and consideration to smaller aspects of something, to zoom in on particulars instead of big scale overviews. Attention to Detail gives us, as Chiefs (and hopefully soon to be Chiefs) better levels of efficiency, increases safety and gives greater situational awareness. Better efficiency by having honed- in skills to give closer attention to the details of a situation, task or need comes from being able to assign appropriate resources, gather necessary information, and devote the proper time to that situation, task or need without having to back track.…

In a business sense, attention to detail essentially means focus that is directed on the multiple small tasks or concerns that make up a larger task or concern. It is highly necessary for all employees in almost any job field to gain and maintain this skill. For example when applying for a job in the civilian world most civilian citizens will explain their skill of attention to detail as a great reason to add them to a company. Not only is this an opinion of almost anyone but definitely true. Even the duties that we consider to have less importance carries the requirement for the basic skill of attention to detail.…
