Jane loved to learn, but had difficulty understanding when instructions were given only in an auditory manner. She believes, however, that since instructions are most often given this way in her classroom, that this is the way she should learn. Jane often feels inadequate in class because she falls short of the expectations she sets for herself, certain that if she concentrates hard enough, she will remember all of the instructions that are given. The stress of failing courses because she is unable to remember all of the instructions are becoming perilously burdensome for her and, even as an adult, she feels like collapsing under the weight. She considers giving up and quitting some of her courses. Quitting is not naturally in Jane’s nature. She always tries her hardest at everything she does. Before making the final decision to quit, she wanders to the school commons to revise her methods for listening in class. Going over her notes, she cannot find anything else to add. She shuts off her phone in class and removes herself from students who talk too much. Distractions are limited and she tries very hard to concentrate on what the instructors say. She has tried taking notes, but the instructors often talk too quickly for her to keep up, and more information ended up being lost than retained on the occasions she attempted this. With a sigh, she consigns she must give up a few classes. …show more content…

Although some people genuinely lack faith in another person, this usually gets the characters to achieve beyond their believe capabilities. In The Leaving by Brigit Pegeen Kelly, a young girl shows almost superhuman characteristics at the face of adversity from her father. Whether her actions are to impress or to spite her father, she relentlessly completes her task in a tediously long night. The most notable counter argument is the one at 15 minutes 35 seconds. The counter argument is, faking something is like feeling like a fraud, because it isn’t the real feeling. They are implying that faking confidence with body poses isn’t actually being truly confident. It’s brought up at the very end, but with the examples the speaker has already given us, there is already proof enough that this argument has been very properly refuted against. If body poses don’t actually make someone confident, then why are testosterone levels, the hormone that makes someone act confident, higher in someone that’s body implies that they're confident than someone who’s been acting like they aren’t?…

Students face various social and emotional challenges as they develop and interact with the world around them. Their ability to control their emotions and reactions is dependent on their level of development, surrounding environment, and the skills they have been taught, modeled, and practiced that deal with social and emotional factors (Ed Psych, p 70). During my field experience in my 3rd grade classroom at S.H.
