In the same way that Lord of the Flies is an allegory for World War II, the book could also have the underlying theme of history tends to repeat itself. The senseless killings and trying to riots happen quite often in today’s society as they did back when the book was written. In the United States alone in 2013, there was an estimated 14,196 murders (FBI 2014). Most of these murders should not have happened, but the decivilization of society makes some people have no remorse about killing other people. Somehow society has gotten off track if this is the mentality of people. This goes hand in hand with the useless riots that are going on in today’s society.
