What does it mean to be a senior? To wonder what it’s like to be a senior can bring multiple thoughts to a person’s head. To be a senior means stress. From the workload, college searching, jobs, parents, relationships, friends and most importantly, MCGEE. It’s the constant worry of what life is going to bring. The excitement of finally being on our own, not always being told what to do. Or as Brooke Seidel say, “having a severe case of senioritis.” While most of us seniors when we’re asked about how high school is going we will be quick to respond with, “I’m so ready for it to be over.” We always joke around telling people that when we get home we’re going to start taking shots of bleach. Or telling our friends and teachers that we are going …show more content…
And as bad as this may sound, it’s all of us saying, “I’m just ready to get out of Worland.” Most of us were raised here our entire lives and we are ready to explore the world. And for those that just moved here want to get out of this town because of the awful smell the sugar beet factory puts off. Though we say we will never come back here when we are older, do we really believe that? Dominic Damiano believes that to be a senior is all about showing the true products of Worland WY. “We are constantly moving each other, the school, and our community in a better direction.” All of our 12 years of schooling are moving each and every single one of us in a better direction. To think that we have even gone through that many years of school is absolutely baffling. Charlee Townsend going into college knows that in 12 years of school we have made friends we will never forget and may have possibly just gone through some of the best years of our lives. Olivia Veal puts it as “the last 12 years have finally paid off. I have worked my butt off for 12 years to work my butt off even harder for the rest of my life.” As senior year may just feel like another year to some people, if you really think about it, we are at the top of the food chain to fall right back down to the bottom when we attend college. It may just feel like another year, but it won’t for long. Graduation is coming quick and pretty soon we’re going to be with a whole new group of people. Having to make new friends all over again. Lyndzi may be looking for more than just friends. For her here at Worland High School there weren’t very many guys that were taller than her. And I guess you could say, she is kind of excited to find someone taller than

Transitioning occurs in all stages of life whether it’s from a baby crawling to walking, or an elder moving from their home to a retirement facility. One transition in life that most of us face is the evolution from high school to a college or a university. With moving into a new phase of my life I was optimistic about the difficulties of becoming comfortable with the population, the diversity, and the college life in general that Wayne State provides. I made the leap to a big city called Detroit from a small city called my home. I live in a small urban city, downriver, called Wyandotte.…

With only months left before graduation, does every senior flip into another mode? The mode where high school really isn’t at the top of seniors’ priorities is often called senioritis. Senioritis is characterized by a lack of motivation and a decline in performance in the last weeks of a student’s high school career. Many think that senioritis just descends upon a select number of seniors, but in reality the thought of skipping class and homework crosses the mind of every senior. Senioritis is different in all seniors based on the attitude and work ethic they have towards school.…

Sophomore year, when I looked back over the last two years I had been at Cristo Rey Brooklyn High School, I always doubted the changes I had made within myself. Whether I progressed or regressed was the question. I had always felt as if I was in the wrong setting. This perspective has changed, the mindset has as well. As a junior, I’ve felt the progression mentally as I continue to bloom into a young adult.…

Arguing that graduating from college does not mean it is too late to change what one wants to do with his or her life, in her 2012 essay “The Opposite of Loneliness,” writer Marina Keegan explores what it means to feel a part of something, looking at how being pulled away from one’s circle of friends will feel strange and bizarre, and then assuages such feelings by proposing that the best years are yet to come. Her purpose is to make readers realize how young and full of possibility the still are in order to convince them that they can still do anything and it’s not too late to change plans completely. She establishes an informal relationship with her audience of fellow Yale graduates and any other people who feel that, after graduation, it…

These results can leave a student more beaten and battered than senioritis ever could. Senioritis is an undiagnosable mental state that most students in their final year will, or have before, suffer from. A student 's job is to fight off the feeling and graduate. If they fall victim they are more likely to fail out and not graduate. Students need to make the realization that senioritis is not real.…

Wise Money Choices + College Costs = Minimal Stress I cannot believe I have made it this far this quickly. It feels like just yesterday when I was accepting my diploma from Mr. Salvatore, my middle school principal and crying while hugging friends who I knew would be attending a different high school than I. Then, on that hot September day, walking through what I thought must have been the biggest school in the state of New Jersey, I got lost, made new friends, and college was but a dwarfed blip on my radar, far, far away from the center of my mind. Subsequently, in tenth grade, Union High School became smaller and my excitement for graduation was planted by the upperclassmen’s conversations about the upcoming prom and graduation.…

Over the summer, students like myself, transitioning from the seventh grade to the eighth grade, were told to earn $100 for their senior dues. On top of that, we had to write a three paragraph essay explaining our experience earning our senior dues which is exactly why I’m sitting here writing this and you, sir or ma’am, are reading this. In the assignment description, it states, “Students are old enough to earn money over the summer; they should consider babysitting, yard work for a neighbor, having a yard sale, or any other job that suits the child’s needs.” However, my two strict West Indian parents don’t exactly believe in any of that.…

Three years elapsed, and with those years gone, so were my hardships. The start of my fourth year marked the turning point for me and what made my final year in high school a memorable one. Unlike the years prior where my opinion didn’t matter, my senior year was when I was finally recognized and praised for my abilities. I felt like I was an asset to the team rather than someone who was just taking up space. I was given first priority when the time had come to pick numbers.…
